The Transfer Prohibited time period is currently set to 60 days, during which time a domain name cannot be transferred between Registrars. This occurs automatically at the initial registration of a domain name and after a transfer from one Registrar to another. During this time period, the domain name will display the "TRANSFER PROHIBITED" status.
